Bombers win series, End Hounds Season

The Flin Flon Bombers are moving on in the SJHL playoffs after beating Notre Dame 4-1.

Flin Flon and the Hounds were deadlocked for more than half the game, until Donovan Houle-Villeneuve lit the lamp for the Bombers midway through the second.

The Bombers held the lead until a third period power play goal by the Hounds’ Jack Flaman – scoring his fourth goal in two games – tied things up.

From there, however, the third period was the Donovan Houle-Villeneuve show, with the Montreal-born rookie scoring two unassisted goals minutes apart to give the Bombers a two-goal lead. Houle-Villeneuve has now scored six goals in the past three games, including the game-tying goal in game two and what ended up standing as the series-clincher tonight.

An empty net goal by Brandson Hein iced the series win for the Bombers.

Brenden Newton got the win after a 34 save performance. Hounds goalie Jack Ryan, despite a 27 save game, will be heading home.
