Notre Dame Hounds’ Sam Kroon has committed to play in Division III NCAA at the University of Wisconsin at Stout for the 2023-2024 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference campaign.
Kroon, 20, joined the Hounds early in the 2021-2022 season, and went on to post 72 points in 118 career games from the blue line.

A Calgary native, Kroon played the Covid-shortened 20-21 campaign with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Camrose Kodiaks, but spent the remainder of his junior career in the Hounds jersey.
He was front and centre for a number of Notre Dame’s iconic moments of the last two seasons, especially scoring the double-overtime winner in Game 1 of the post-season in 21-22 on the road against the No. 1 seed Estevan Bruins. The Hounds’ win was the only victory by a road team at Estevan’s Affinity Place throughout that entire SJHL post-season.
Kroon as also a key leader off the ice, wearing an ‘A’ in 22-23, and was the only 20-year-old defenceman on the team this past campaign.
He joins fellow departed Hound Evan Vanden Heuvel at Stout, a school located in Menomenie, WI.
