The Notre Dame Hounds have named Jaryd Sych captain, and Dane Probe, Sam Kroon, and Will Dawson as assistants ahead of the 2022-2023 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League season.
Sych, 19, posted 35 points in 58 games in his first full SJHL campaign in 2021-22 to rank fourth among defencemen. A Hound since 2017, the Riceton, SK-resident committed to Mercyhurst University of NCAA Division I hockey during the season a year ago.
Kroon, who turns 20 in December, added 37 points last year to rank third among SJHL defenders. A native of Calgary, Kroon joined the Hounds very early in the regular season in 21-22 after a stint with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Camrose Kodiaks in the Covid shortened 20-21 campaign.
Dawson, who will turn 19 in October, hails from Traverse City, MI, and exploited for eight of his 15 goals on the year last season after Feb. 26. His 32 points in 21-22 is the most among returning Hounds’ forwards.
Probe, also in his second full season in junior hockey, put up 15 points in 53 games in his rookie campaign a year ago. A Calgary, AB, native, he joined the Hounds after wearing an ‘A’ with the Calgary Royals U18AAAs in 2020-2021.
