Hounds pick three at 2024 SJHL Draft

The Notre Dame Hounds did not make many picks at the 2024 SJHL Draft, but are thrilled with the three players they added; two of whom come with championship pedigree.

With ND’s first pick of the draft, in the 4th round, 37th overall, general manager Brett Pilkington went with right-shot defenceman Wyatt Jordan from the Saskatoon RiverKings U18AA. Jordan, 16, posted eight points in 33 games as a rookie blue liner, and hails from Saskatoon, SK.

Jordan and his RiverKings won the 2024 Saskatchewan U18AA championship.

Coach Brett elected to add to the club’s goaltending depth with the next pick, grabbing Evan Hutcheon from the Regina Vics U18AA at 49th overall in the 5th round. A Regina native, Hutcheon went 9-7-2- with a .905 save percentage in 18 games for the Vics last season. He also earned the win in a call-up appearance for the Regina Pat Canadians U18s.

With the final pick, at 61st overall in the 6th round, the Hounds chose high-scoring forward Corbin Nieman of the Martensville Marauders 15AA. The Outlook, SK native posted 52 points in 29 regular and post-season contests en route to the league championship.

Nieman and the Marauders took home the 2024 Saskatchewan 15AA title.

Welcome to the great family of Hounds Wyatt, Evan, and Corbin!
