Hounds acquire veteran Jowett from Freeze

The Notre Dame Hounds have acquired defenceman Briggs Jowett from the Winnipeg Freeze of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League in exchange for future considerations.

Jowett, 20, scored four goals, and 13 points, and amassed 177 penalty minutes over 49 games for the Freeze in 2022-23.

He is a native of La Broquerie, MB, a rural municipality southeast of Winnipeg and has 88 games of Junior A experience, as he spent the 2021-22 MJHL campaign with the OCN Blizzard.

Briggs also was an assistant captain for the Freeze last year.

“Jowett is a big physical player that will bring leadership and experience to our lineup,” said ND head coach Brett Pilkington.

Jowett played his minor hockey with the Eastman Selects AAA in Beausejour, MB.
